Here Are The Best Target Men In FM23

As the modern game moves towards fast and nimble strikers who can lead a press from the front, getting strikers who can play as a target man is an uphill task.

Therefore, I have decided to come up with this list to make it easier for you to identify a target man or two, that you can sign up for your next FM23 adventure.

I have tried to limit myself to players aged 30 and below, however, there are a few like Harry Kane, who you just can not ignore.

Target Man in FM23

It is worth noting that by playing these strikers as target men, there might be a few attributes and skills that they possess which will not be used to their full potential

Without further ado, here are the best target men you can sign in FM23;

Tammy Abraham

Since leaving English football in 2021, Abraham’s game has improved in leaps and bounds, and he is now of the most complete strikers in the top five leagues.

With an eye for goal and the ability to bring others into play, Abraham is the perfect striker for a club chasing Champions League football.

The Nigerian is still only 25 years old, and with strikers hitting their peak in football manager at around the age of 27, Abraham’s best form still lies ahead if you sign him up.

His contract expires in 2026, therefore be prepared to spend above his market value to sign him up.

However, being homegrown in England, you might just cash in on him and for a good profit when one of the big 6 clubs in England comes sniffing around for his signature.

Romelu Lukaku

Having gone back to Italy where he had previously shown the best version of himself, Lukaku is still trying to hit those levels.

At the age of 29, Lukaku is very much at the peak of his career, and you will be paying for his ability rather than potential should you wish to sign him up.

With good physical attributes, the only downside to deploying Lukaku as a target man will be negating his explosive pace and acceleration.

If you are happy to do this, Lukaku’s contract expires in 2023, and you might be able to sign him up on a free transfer should Inter Milan not scoop him up at the end of his loan spell.

Alvaro Morata

In spite of playing for the biggest clubs in Europe and winning numerous caps for Spain, Morata has never been a prolific striker.

What he does better than most strikers is build-up play. Morata is an exceptional dribbler, header of the ball and generally good in tight spaces.

He will always be open to receiving the ball from his midfielders, no matter the situation.

Currently aged 30 and his contract expiring in 2024, Morata can be signed for relatively cheap compared to the other names on this list

Furthermore, his game is not reliant on pace, therefore he will comfortably play into his 30s, making him a good option for a quality rotational target man.

Harry Kane

Harry Kane is arguably the most complete striker in FM23. Karim Benzema and Robert Lewandowski might have something to say about that, but the two are well into their 30s.

Playing for Tottenham Hotspurs, Kane is yet to win a major title in his career, despite being one of the most prolific goalscorers in world football.

How about you ensure the Englishman does not end his career with zero titles by signing him up and letting him lead your side to glory?

He will not come cheap, however, especially his wages. However, with his contract nearing its end, he might not be as expensive as he was in previous editions of football manager.

Gerard Moreno

Just like Morata, Moreno is another Spanish international excellent at bringing his teammates into play.

He is also aged 30, however, he has a longer contract expiring in 2027 which might make signing him a little bit complicated due to his age and the expected sizeable transfer fee.

If you go for him, Moreno can also put in a shift in the right wing position as an inside forward or raumdeuter.

Arkadiusz Milik

Currently on loan at Juventus from Olympique Marseille, Milik is a good, affordable option for a target man if you do not have a big transfer budget.

As are most players on this list, Milik is at the peak of his career, aged 28, meaning you are not signing him up for his potential

Ligue 1 players are generally affordable coupled with the fact that his contract expires in 2025, you might get him for a surprisingly low fee.

Aside from operating as a target man, Milik can also put in a shift as an advanced forward, pressing forward or even a poacher to take advantage of his excellent movement and decent pace and acceleration.

Andrea Belotti

Long touted for a move out of the Serie A and potentially into the Premier League, Belotti finally got his move from Torino in 2022, but to AS Roma, another Italian club.

Now aged 29 and with his contract expiring in 2023, although AS Roma have the option of triggering a two-year extension, you might just sign the Italian talisman on a free transfer if you are lucky.

Capable of playing as a target man, Belotti can also operate as a deep lying forward or a complete forward if you have the right players around him.
